Frequently Asked Questions
What is Lifestyle Medicine?
Lifestyle medicine is an evidence-based approach to preventing, treating and even reversing chronic diseases by replacing unhealthy behaviors with positive ones — such as eating healthfully, being physically active, managing stress, avoiding risky substance abuse, adequate sleep and having a strong support system.

Which illnesses do you treat?
Some of the illnesses treated at SmithCare include Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, fatty liver, sleep disorders, overweight & obesity, thyroid disorders, fatigue, acid reflux, autoimmune disorders, hot flashes, allergies, asthma, nutritional and vitamin deficiencies, pain, rashes and more.
Why doesn’t SmithCare accept Insurance?
Traditional primary care providers work for the insurance and pharmaceutical companies instead of the patient. As a result, patients are treated as symptoms instead of individuals, visits are rushed and western medications are used as band-aids.
With our unique membership model we take the time necessary to provide individualized premium healthcare with a focus on prevention and holistic treatment
Can I still receive care if I am currently on traditional medications?
Of course. Our goal is to meet you where you are and help you accomplish your lifestyle goals.
Does SmithCare provide urgent care?
SmithCare does not provide urgent care or walk-in services but we do provide scheduled sick visits. We specialize in prevention and wellness and put all of our energy towards providing stellar lifestyle care.
Are the cost of labs and specialty screenings included in my visit?
Labs and screening are not included in your visit. For those without insurance we have partnered with healthcare organizations that provide free and low- cost labs, screenings and specialty services. If you have insurance, your insurance may cover these services.
Why should I invest in a lifestyle health plan?
The SmithCare lifestyle health plan is not for everyone. The plan was created based on years of experience in health and primary care and identifying what is lacking in our current healthcare system. Patients ask for easy access, nutrition advice, a holistic approach to care, on-going support, convenient scheduling and appointments, education and a provider who listens to their needs. If any of the above appeal to you then this plan is for you. There is no risk to try it as you can cancel at any time.
